Sandhills Public School is a suburban K-6 school that comprises roughly 670 students and 60 staff members. About % of their student population lives in the walk zone, % live in the bus zone, and % live outside the catchment area. Bell times are 8:35 am and 2:55 pm.

School traffic infrastructure includes a bus-only loop. The parking lot has only enough parking for staff and two accessible parking spots for drivers with permits. There are sturdy bike parking spots, and many trails that access the school from Westforest, Greengable Way, and Greengable Court.

Two crossing guards assist students crossing at Victoria/Westforest and Victoria/Eastforest. It is unsafe to park on Victoria Street to access the school; those who must drive should use surface residential streets.

Additional support at this school includes:

Trailblazers

A network of Trailblazers at Sandhills wear vests while walking to and from school. These students have received training in road safety and crisis alerts, so they know what to do if something out of the ordinary comes up on their way to school. Trailblazers increase the visibility of the walk to school and give parents peace of mind that there are walking experts on their child’s route. For more information visit Trailblazers.

The Walking School Bus

Sandhills PS parents operate three Walking School Buses. Find out where and register your child or volunteer at Walking School Bus.

Traffic Flow Map

The Sandhills Traffic Flow Map shows you where cars belong – and don’t belong ‐ on the space-limited campus. Please follow these expectations in order to provide clear sight lines and space to keep all children safe. Thank you!

Drive to 5 Campaign

Streets suitable for parking are located within a 5 minute walk from the school. These streets are clearly marked through maps and signage. Contact your school’s principal for more information and school specific resources and visit Drive to Five for more information.

iWalk Day, Winter walk day & bike to school event days

See how many students can walk, ride, or roll to school on these special event days. Sandhills PS celebrates with various encouraging activities, so look for messaging on School Day or ask at the office if there is a guest joining a preferred route (or routes!). See our Programs page for more information about these events.
