Howard Robertson Public School is an urban K-8 school that comprises roughly 360 students and 35 staff members. About 93% of their student population lives in the walk zone, 6% live in the walk zone and 1% live outside the catchment area. Bell times are 9:00 am and 3:20 pm.
Walking infrastructure includes sidewalks on the school side of Morgan Avenue, crossing guards at Morgan/Fairway and Morgan near Southill, limited and movable bike parking.
There are two accessible parking spots for people with permits and parking is limited to school staff unless by special permission.
At Fairway and Morgan a Leading Pedestrian Signal gives pedestrians a few seconds of lead time before cars have the right to advance, allowing pedestrians to assume a more prominent and visible position in the crosswalk before cars begin to move. Drivers should take care to drive the speed limit here and watch for pedestrians crossing the road. There is a lot of through-traffic on Fairway that may not slow down or watch as carefully and so parents driving to this school are asked to set a safe pace and good practices.

Love My Hood
Howard Robertson PS is working with the community on a Love My Hood project to bring greater awareness of students on foot. This is a program run by the City of Kitchener that allows residents to take a lead in making positive change in their neighbourhood. Look for a banner and yard signs in the early spring that will brighten up the street for drivers!
Sidewalk Smarts
Sidewalk Smarts is a pedestrian skills program aimed at grade 4 students. This program builds on skills, introducing complex crossings and safety techniques, and involves both in-class and roadside sessions to learn and practice skills that are integral for students travelling in the general Fairway and Morgan area. Howard Robertson started this program in 2020.
Action Plan
