GRT Pass Process – 2024-2025
The process for GRT passes provided to WRDSB and WCDSB students has changed.
Initiation
Initiation of the GRT pass has not changed: eligibility is determined only for specific students under special circumstances through the school enrollment process and STSWR works with GRT to ensure eligibility is identified at GRT terminals.
Initiation Cost
Starting in September 2024, there will no longer be a $5 charge for students picking up their GRT pass. This cost will now be covered by STSWR. Students must go to a GRT Terminal to activate their bus pass once they have been notified by the school that the student has been added to the High School GRT Transportation List:
Kitchener Terminal(s)
- 105 King Street. E., Kitchener, ON, N2G 2K8 (Corner of King St. and Benton St.)
- 250 Strasburg Road, Kitchener, ON, N2E 3M6
Cambridge Terminal
- 35 Ainslie Street S., Cambridge, ON, N2E 3M6
GRT Pass Usage
GRT passes will be issued for entire blocks of time (Semester 1, Semester 2, or the entire school year) as determined by the school enrollment process. The pass will be usable for the duration of the determined period unless the student stops using it. Starting this fall, GRT passes that are not used within a 30-day period will be canceled the following month.
Example: A pass last used on October 15, 2024 will be canceled during the December 2024 billing cycle.
Students are still eligible for the GRT pass for the determined period, and can restart at any time at the GRT terminal, with no cost to the student.
