Growing data shows that concentrations of CO2 are dangerously high in school drop off zones.
“The use of private vehicles can significantly increase local concentrations (of air pollution), regardless of background conditions,” say University of Toronto researchers Matthew D. Adams and Weeberb J Requia in their paper “How private vehicle use increases ambient air pollution concentrations at schools during the morning drop-off of children.”

Teaching Resources:
Grades of Green has curated an eco-toolkit for grades K-5 to launch a school-wide campaign to encourage families, teachers, and other drivers to limit idling time. STSWR can help you get the materials and connections you need to make this work.
Planet Protector Academy engages students as real-life planet protectors who can choose to use active travel and/or to encourage parents to turn the car off to reduce CO2 in school zones. STSWR works with Planet Protector to bring the program to you with fewer barriers.
