CAA School Safety Patrol for the 2020-2021 School Year
October 2nd, 2020
STSWR is happy to announce we are able to offer the CAA Foot and Bus Patrol program for the 2020-2021 school year despite Covid-19 restrictions, because we believe this safety program works.
The delivery of the program has been adapted to reduce the risk of spreading the coronavirus. To avoid large groups, CAA has provided a hybrid model that allows for the facilitation of training to occur at each school. Patrol supervisors are now able to access the training material and videos for their students and to perform the training at their school site.
This hybrid model:
- Allows the coordinator to choose the schedule
- Eliminates travel time for training sessions
- Can be delivered maintaining social distancing
- Provides an opportunity for student leadership
- Demonstrates commitment to student safety
We realize this is a change from past years, but the ability to support our student leaders while providing an effective safety intervention was too good to pass up.
If you are interested in taking part in the program, please read the CAA attachment that details your next steps to participate in the program this year. STSWR will continue to be your program partner and we will provide materials from CAA. Please let Nicki Proulx at nicole_proulx@stswr.ca know you will be participating in the Safety Patrol program, and the number of students (foot and/or bus) that will be involved.
Additionally, we continue to offer our Trailblazer “student walking expert” program, and have adapted it to be completely online this year.
Thank you for your continued interest in these important safety programs.
