Statement

Student Transportation Services of Waterloo Region may provide transportation for students attending summer school programs. Transportation is provided in accordance with established policies and procedures governing transportation, with some exceptions as noted below.

Procedures

General

Summer School Locations

Program locations are determined by the Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) or Waterloo Catholic District School Board (WCDSB).

Getting To/From Bus Stops (Exception to normal procedures)

Summer school buses cover a large geographic area and parents/guardians will need to make arrangements to get their children to and from centralized bus stops. This is applicable in rural settings as well.

Length of Ride Time (Exception to normal procedures)

Every effort will be made to ensure that students will not be on the bus longer than one hour (one way), but due to program locations, this may not always be possible.

Route Revisions

If, for any reason, a route modification is required before summer school begins, it will be posted with a “revised date” on the STSWR website. Parents/students are asked to check schedules prior to a student’s first day to ensure they have up-to-date information. Bus drivers will also announce any changes if revisions occur after the first day.

Elementary (6, 7 and 8)

Elementary Stop Locations (Exception to normal procedures)

Elementary summer school bus stops are located at the student’s home school for the upcoming year.

Elementary Route Posting Date

Elementary summer school routes will be posted on the STSWR website in June.

7 & 8 Reach Ahead

Secondary Stop Locations (Exception to normal procedures)

Students enrolled in the Grade 7 & 8 Reach Ahead program are to follow the Secondary Summer School Bus Schedules.

Secondary

Summer school bus stops will be located at secondary school sites that can safely accommodate large groups of students and buses.

If a secondary school site is inaccessible, an alternative will be identified based on the safety and accessibility of the site.

Secondary Route Posting Date

Secondary summer school routes will be posted on the STSWR website in late May, early June.
